Captains Ingrid and Lars-Otto Ljungholm currently serve as Corps Officers (Pastors) of The Salvation Army Alexandria Citadel Corps in Alexandria, Virginia. Both are native Swedes whose lifelong ministry has been shaped by distinguished careers in music education, performance, and leadership.

Ingrid earned her Music Teacher Certification from the University of Kalmar and completed postgraduate studies in choral conducting. Lars-Otto holds a Master of Fine Arts in Music from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and furthered his conducting studies under renowned conductor Gunther Schuller. Prior to moving to the United States, he performed professionally as a freelance trumpet player with leading Swedish ensembles, including the Royal Swedish Opera Orchestra, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.

For more than four decades, the Ljungholms have served as musicians, educators, conductors, and guest faculty throughout the world. Their ministry has taken them to numerous countries across Europe, Africa, North and South America, and the Pacific region. They have held significant music leadership roles in both the United States and Sweden, developing music programs, conducting choirs and bands, and mentoring generations of young musicians.

Today, they continue to combine their passion for music and ministry in service to God through The Salvation Army.

They have two adult sons, Erik and Anders, who both reside in the Dallas, Texas, area. Erik is married to Katelyn, and in 2024 they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Emilia, bringing great joy to the Ljungholm family.
